Archmere's Maddie Priest has committed to attend Elon University in NC. She will join the Cross Country and Track teams.






Sanford's Brady Bollman has committed to attend Eastern University in PA where he will join the Baseball team.






Friday night the St. Elizabeth's Varsity Soccer team defeated St. Mary Magdalen 1-0 in double over time for the 2023 Y Division CYM Soccer Championships.







Football





Cole Fenice rushed for 155 yards and one of Archmere's two touchdowns as the Auks beat Howard 13-6. The win puts Archmere currently in control of Class 2A District 2 at 3-0 with Wilmington Friends yet to play who are 2-1 with their loss coming to Howard.







Evan Budinger threw for 306 yards and 4 touchdowns as Red Lion beat Delcaslte 55-18. Sophomore Jahsiaer Rogers caught 5 passes for 184 yards and three of those touchdowns. The Lions are 6-2 in the same district with Caravel who are 7-0 and have yet to play.

Wilmington Friends beat Mt. Pleasant 37-14 to improve to 7-1. Andrew McKenzie had another big day for the Quakers rushing for 144 yards and two touchdowns and catching 5 passes with one additional touchdown.




Salesianum broke a 14-14 tie in the 4th quarter against Middletown with 23 unanswered points to win this rivalry game 37-14. BJ Alleyne rushed for 200 yards on 30 carries and a touchdown. The Sals are now 7-1 as Middletown, in the same district, falls to 6-2.

Darnell Stokes rushed for three touchdowns as Indian River beat St. Andrews 42-7. The three touchdowns were for a total of 186 yards.

Field Hockey



The Delmar Wildcats beat the Smyrna Eagles 6-0 to win the 2023 Henlopen Conference Field Hockey Championship handing Smyrna their first loss of the year. Junior Jordyn Hollamon scored three goals and had two assists in the game. Emily Bitters, Laela Brown and Hailey Ritchey had the other Wildcat goals.

MOT Charter beat Mt. Pleasant 6-0. Makenzie Mical scored a hat trick for the Mustangs.

Volleyball



There are no undefeated volleyball teams in Delaware High Schools now as Ursuline beat St. Marks on the last match of the season in 5 sets. The Raiders avenged an earlier 3-0 loss to the Spartans as CC DeCarlo led the way with 21 kills and 22 digs. Raider Libero Grace Burns had 34 digs. Ursuline ends the regular season 12-3. Three Delaware teams, the Spartans, Tower Hill and Smyrna are all 14-1 heading into the tournament seeding meeting.

Shelly Perez Rubio


Shelly Perez Rubio is an 8th grader from Laurel. She recently ran a 23:35 @ the Sussex County Championships, which is only 5 seconds off the school record set 3 years ago by then senior Zoe Bryan.











Jaslyn Dawkins


Outside hitter Jaslyn Dawkins scored 20 kills in Appoquinimink’s last game of the season against Conrad. Jaslyn was the highest scorer on both teams and achieved her personal best for kills in a game.

Jaslyn, a sophomore, is the leader for regular season kills at Appoquinimink with 166 and 2nd in the conference.

Darnell Stokes from Indian River had three long rushing touchdowns totaling 186 on just those three in the Indians big 42-7 win over St. Andrews.







Maria Cocco-Lambie


Maria is a sophomore Outside Hitter at Wilmington Christian School. Maria had 26 kills and 20 digs against Sanford on 10/20; and 29 kills and 20 digs against Tatnall on 10/26.
